The town of Mayerthorpe, AB is the next stop to Edmonton on the Grande Prairie route. The community has a history of agriculture and ranching. Known to celebrate these roots, the town has set its focus in previous years completing efforts to grow its tourism industry. Mayerthorpe hosts a variety of amenities for tourists and is always a welcoming community.
The history of the area can be found at the Rochfort Bridge Trestle and Museum. Anyone wanting to take in the sun and relax on the water can head to the Paddle River Dam Campground. A perfect getaway from the cityscape, or to see something new. It is just south of the town and has a launch for boats. Surrounded by other small municipalities, the town shares much of the surrounding area and visiting spots for travellers.
Mayerthorpe is often susceptible to the changing Alberta weather, much like the surrounding towns in the region.
