Summer is in full swing, and with it comes a series of fantastic Pride events across Alberta and British Columbia. At Ebus, we support the 2SLGBTQPIA+ community, and are proud to promote a safe and inclusive environment on all of our routes. You don’t want to be late to the party, so we’d love to get you to the nearest Pride celebration and then Safely Home.

Vancouver Pride Kicks Off This August Long Weekend

Vancouver Pride is set to go off with a bang with multiple events kicking off a super busy long weekend celebration. On July 28th, Pride Takeover will feature a free DIVA SHOW at Maple Tree Square and showcase your favourite pop divas with live music, dancing, and storytelling.

Have you ever seen a drag show on a boat? Well, why not hit the open water on July 29th for the Drag on Board Pride Cruise featuring Vivian Vanderpuss from season three of Canada’s Drag Race? Pride attire is encouraged, and this ocean adventure will run rain or shine! If you’re looking for entertainment on dry land, then maybe the Drag High Tea is more your style. The event is at The Chapel at St. Andrew’s -Wesley on July 30th and features a side of tea towers, mimosas and Bridgerton dress-up.

Vancouver’s ultimate Pride celebration is finally back for an in-person parade this year. The iconic event is on July 31st from noon to 3:00 pm and runs from Robson St. to Denman St. to Beach Ave. Everyone is welcome to come together and march in support of the 2SLGBTQPIA+ community.

Kamloops Pride Week Runs August 22-28

After two years of virtual events due to COVID-19, Kamloops Pride is back in a big way this summer. Pride Week gets rolling on Monday, August 22nd and wraps up on Sunday, August 28th, with the parade and afterparty in Riverside Park.

All week long, local organizers have a jam-packed schedule – including a Comedy Show on the 22nd, Family Art Night on the 23rd, Sexual Health Panel on the 24th, Headphone Disco on the 25th, Youth Dance and Pride Resource Carnival on the 26th, and Drag Shows and Nature Walk on the 27th.

Calgary Pride Parade and Festival Wraps up a Busy Summer

Calgary Pride Week launches the weekend of August 26th with a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall, followed by a Pride Kick-off event on August 27th at Central Memorial Park with musicians, vendors, and a movie night. Mikey’s on 12th is hosting a spectacular “Rain of Stars” on the 27th and 28th – an incredible impersonators/Drag queen show directly from Mexico.

On the 29th, be sure to check out the TD Ramsay Patio Pride Party at the ‘Ol Beautiful Brewing Co. This is your chance to mingle and show support for LGBTQ+ refugees to Canada. On September 3rd, the Pride Brunch in support of Camp Fyrefly is back at the Westin Hotel. Who doesn’t love brunch with heartwarming speeches and a few drag performances mixed in?

Calgary Pride Week wraps up with the main event on Sunday, September 4th, with the increasingly popular parade. After a two-year hiatus, crowds of at least 100,000 people are expected to line the parade route to watch the celebration wind its way through the Beltline along 9th Avenue, right past our Ebus Calgary Downtown ticket office, and into East Village.

Immediately following the parade, spectators are encouraged to keep the party going at the Pride festival at Fort Calgary. There will be a variety of performances, food truck vendors, kid-friendly activities, a marketplace, and a beer garden – all along the beautiful Bow River.

Pride Events Are Back and Better Than Ever

For two years, COVID-19 definitely spoiled the party for most Pride events across Canada, but the celebrations are back in full force this summer. Inflation putting a dent in your travel budget?
